This 🤏 close to ranting about Charles and people screaming he’s washed-out/jumping at every occasion, at every littlest thing to belittle and underestimate him without taking into account the numerous factors and context necessary around each performance every week-end to understand everything and offer the full pic. It’s not like he has suddenly lost the ability to drive, sure he has a hard time adapting to these conditions and he is struggling. I can admit that and he himself says it so very honestly as usual with him being very self-critical and always shouldering the blame fully whether it’s warranted or not. But I think it’s fair to say there are also other things to take into account as well for every ‘bad’ performance he had.
I’ll never be disappointed IN him but rather FOR him because I can only imagine how hard he works and how difficult it must be for him since the beginning of the season. I know he’s trying to adapt to such a capricious and difficult car to drive, one that doesn’t fit his preferences as well.
It’s easy to support your driver when he does well, but I think if you really believe in him then your trust in him should also push you to support him when he has less than great performances (whether it’s on him or not). Yes, he’s struggling. Yes, he has made mistakes. Yes, he can have bad days. Can anyone point me to any driver on the grid who hasn’t? All of that doesn’t mean he can’t pull himself back up (to a point and in the limits of what his tools allow him obviously because let’s be honest this car really isn’t what we all expected/wanted).
I just can’t wait for the day he gets the car he always dreamed of and gets to show us his full potential — even more so than we have been blessed to see in the past year which is already superb. Man oh man is it gonna be beautiful.
might just go ahead and do it if the migraines and the general sense of feeling unwell goes away
anyways huge happy disability pride month to my fellow disabled people who have no idea what’s wrong with them, who can’t get a diagnosis, who have doctors who won’t listen or understand, who have been a medical mystery their whole life, who can’t find medical care that helps them because no one bothers to find what needs help. love you guys so much, it’s gonna get better for us all someday, I promise. ❤️❤️

“A quick word for Dilano in Spa, it’s a tragic day for motorsport, we lost a driver today, I just want everyone to think about that[…] Eau rouge and Spa needs some looking into because we’ve lost 2 drivers in a span of 4- 5 years, it’s a really dangerous corner, we say it every year it’s not fair what happened today”

are mrs spink and forcible a lesbian couple?
Miss Spink and Miss Forcible. They are a couple, yes.
As Stephin Merritt had them sing, in the 2009 musical
“I am Miss Spink–” “And I am Miss Forcible–”
“Elderly thespians fallen from grace–”
“We never married so we’re undivorceable–”
“Tripping on clippings all over the place.”
So, this is page 18 of a recent printing of the Italian translation of Coraline (actually the second page of the actual book, after the Preface).
The underlined part says, literally, “both I and my sister Forcible were famous actresses, in our time.”
I read Coraline in English way back when and had always assumed they were a couple. I just came across this translation today at my parents’ and was taken aback, thinking I probably got it wrong at the time.
So I checked the English text and GUESS WHAT. I didn’t get it wrong. The original sentence reads, “both myself and Miss Forcible were famous actresses, in our time.” The translator decided Miss Spink and Miss Forcible must be sisters and, to this end, added a word that wasn’t there.
As a literary translator, queer person, and Neil Gaiman fan, I could write much (MUCH) more about this but honestly? I haven’t felt this furious in a long time, and I wouldn’t be too eloquent, I guess.
Honestly the best bit about this whole answer-storm is it’s reminded me to talk to my agent about the Italian edition.
